Intel Corp.shares rose 6.9%. The company late Thursday
boosted its full-year revenue outlook on improved
demand for business PCs, saying it now expects
second-quarter sales between $13.4 billion and $14
billion. For the full year, the company now forecasts
“some revenue growth” versus previous estimates of no
growth.
 
EXPR
Express Inc. shares surged 27%. The retailer got a
boost late Thursday after the private-equity firm
Sycamore Partners expressed an interest in buying
Express, saying it would like to perform due diligence
that could lead to a fully financed offer, and
announced a 9.9% stake in the company.

Verifone–Verifone reported fiscal second quarter profit of 37 cents per share, excluding certain items, five cents above estimates, with revenue above forecasts as well. The maker of credit card swipe machines did forecast current quarter earnings below current consensus, but many U.S. retailers are expected to continue to upgrade their credit card equipment.

Diamond Foods–The food producer earned 11 cents per share for its third quarter, excluding items, missing estimates by six cents. Weakness in its nut business contributed to the miss, although Diamond said it was pleased with its snack segment, which includes the Pop Secret popcorn brand.

Shares of Halozyme (HALO) are up 12% premarket on modest volume this morning. Yesterday, the FDA lifted its clinical hold on the company's Phase 2 trial of PEGPH20.

Joy Global–The mining equipment maker earned 76 cents per share, excluding certain items, for its second quarter, five cents above estimates, though revenue was shy of forecasts. Its customers spent less on equipment as coal prices weakened.

Verint Systems–Verint earned 72 cents per share for the first quarter, excluding certain items, 17 cents above estimates, with revenue also well above forecasts. The maker of data analysis software also raised its full year revenue outlook.
 
PVH
PVH–The company behind the Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger brands earned $1.47 per share for the first quarter, excluding certain items, two cents below estimates, and also cut its full-year guidance because of margin pressures in North America.
 
CIEN
Ciena–The network equipment maker reported fiscal second quarter profit of 17 cents per share, excluding certain items, four cents above estimates. Revenue was above estimates as well, and the company said revenue trends will strengthen further in the second half of the year.

The increase in use of digital media has prompted the possible revision of those agreements, and that could eventually results in an increase in music royalty rates.

Hillshire Brands–Hillshire received an improved $55 per share takeover bid from Pilgrim's Pride, up from the original $45 and topping another bid from Tyson Foods of $50 per share. However, Hillshire said its prior agreement to buy Pinnacle Foods does not allow it to terminate that deal, a condition of both the Pilgrim's Pride and Tyson bids.

Las Vegas Sands, MGM, Wynn Resorts–A Deutsche Bank report cited by StreetInsider.com said Macau gaming revenue was up 9.3 percent in May, well below the firm's estimate of a 14.8 percent increase.

Conn’s Inc. shares jumped 8.3%. The retailer, which sells furniture, mattresses and other consumer goods, said Monday its first-quarter profit and sales topped expectations. The company said it continues to expect adjusted per-share earnings of $3.40 to $3.70 on same-store sales growth of 5% to 10% for fiscal year 2015.

Salesforce.com Inc. shares rose 2.3%, leading the S&P 500 in premarket trade. The company and Microsoft Corp. late Thursday announced a strategic partnership linking Salesforce’s customer relationship management services to Microsoft Office and Windows. The companies didn’t disclose the terms of the deal. “We are excited to partner with salesforce.com and help customers thrive in a mobile and cloud-first world,” said Satya Nadella, chief executive of Microsoft.

Express–The retailer posted first quarter profit of six cents per share, eight cents below estimates. Sales fell short of forecasts as well, as does the company's current quarter earnings forecast. The company said its spring inventory sold slowly, and the specialty apparel chain's Memorial Day promotion did not drive traffic as successfully as last year.

Separately, Valeant sold the rights to several of its skincare products to Nestle for $1.4 billion in cash.

Twitter—Nomura Securities upgraded Twitter to «buy» from «neutral,» saying this year's drop in the stock price has resulted in a much more favorable risk/reward ratio. The firm now sees the possibility of product enhancements that could spur user growth and revenue per user.

DDD

3D Systems–3D announced a public offering of nearly six million shares, a move that will increase the 3D printer maker's outstanding shares by 5.8 percent. The company plans to use the proceeds for future acquisitions and for working capital.
