Late June the jacket for the new Statoil-operated Gina Krog platform was launched on the field in the Norwegian part of the North Sea. Including rigging and buoyancy tanks the jacket weighed more than 17 000 tons, more than twice the steel weight of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Now it’s secured to the seabed with 18 more than 90 meter long piles, and summer 2015 drilling on the Gina Krog field will commence through the jacket.
